What can I say, Good as Gold lives up to its namesake. The eggs and bright orange and running, the smoked salmon is melt-in-your-mouth and clearly high quality, and they accommodated my gluten and dairy allergies with no issues! The waitstaff and baristas there are so kind, and the atmosphere (window light, cacti, and well thought out design) make it a worthy brunch place to spend a little more than you should as a grad student.
Was searching for a local cafe and found good as gold :) ordered an avocado toast with an oat latte, place was clean and staff was friendly. My coffee came very promptly not long followed by my food. Upon leaving I noticed that they served specialty coffee and ordered a v60- perfect temp and tasted great, I look forward to seeing what their evening service is like!
Friendly staff, delicious food & great coffee options incl. quite a few beans to choose from for a V60. Came off-peak (right after opening on a Saturday) and service was excellent.
Probably our favourite pancakes to date: fluffy and soft inside, bit crispy on the outside, tons of maple syrup & perfect with salty bacon.
We had dinner at the restaurant on a Friday. The drinks selection was great with nice cocktails, wine and non-alcoholic drinks. The food is simple and greatly executed. The staff were very friendly. The whole atmosphere of the place is great with both indoor and outdoor seating. Would definitely be visiting again.
I love the coffee here, and we've eaten many times. My food has always been delicious and the nduja fried eggs were obscenely tasty, greasy and spicy. Perfection.
My lunch partner had avocado on toast, and it was quite visibly and obviously brown. For such a great place with such quality ingredients this is quite a serious slip-up. Makes you wonder whether other corners are cut in terms of quality. Probably will only return for coffee from now on.
We’re just so lucky to have Good As Gold on our doorstep. It’s a fantastic cafe in the day - a perfect place to while away a Sunday morning over great coffee and reliably delicious brunch - but it’s the evening menu that really captivates. Every plate is perfect in its own subtle way, each dish a delicate celebration of seasonal produce. The atmosphere is also wonderful: welcoming in the day, romantic in the evening, and always so deservedly busy. Oh, and all dietary restrictions and allergies are sensitively accommodated - brilliant all round.
Got there for breakfast at around 0945, was very busy but we managed to get a spot looking out of the window for two people - the service was friendly. We had two coffees which were lush as well as two avocado on toasts. The avo on toast was to the standard you get everywhere - one slice of sourdough and at £7.50 it was cheaper than other places. We’d definitely recommend and go back but maybe take away as our clothes smelt of the open kitchen.
It was worth the 35-minute walk from home. They had some poached eggs with n’duja on a lovely sourdough slice. It might have been better with runnier yolks, but I didn't let them know I preferred them that way. Latte and flat white were appropriately prepared. The guy on the counter was not that friendly, but maybe just having a bad day. The two waitresses were super friendly and provided some water for my dog.
